About Newton Follis
Newton Follis is purely a research company. We provide advice to existing and new members of Lloyd's to complement the services they receive from their Members' Agents. We offer a highly personalised service and clients have direct access to our analysts at any time.
Our highly experienced board of directors is very well connected in the market. Our syndicate research is continuous throughout the year and so is our general insurance market research.
We specialise in objective research and underwriting strategy. We maintain a detailed and thorough portfolio analysis for each client. Together with the market intelligence we gather this forms the basis of personalised underwriting strategy recommendations, which also take into account the client's risk and reward preferences.
We are a regulated Lloyd's adviser and our advice is independent. The Newton Follis Partnership Limited is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK and is also registered as an investment adviser with the Securities and Exchange Commission in the United States of America.
The business originated in 1989 with the establishment by David Newton, an experienced Lloyd's agent, of a consultancy aimed at giving Lloyd's names an independent 'second opinion' on their syndicate portfolios and advisers. In 1998, David teamed up with Alison Follis, another experienced members' agent, to form Newton Follis to continue the business. David runs the office in South Africa, which services South African as well as US clients. Alison ran the UK office from Petworth before retiring in 2012 when Tony Harris took over as CEO, and the UK office was moved to London. Soon afterwards William Cox, one of the most experienced analysts in Lloyd's, joined to head up research in the London Office, which deals with clients from the UK, Ireland, Australia and Hong Kong.
